Frequently asked questions
Is the app free?
Yes. FreeFuelPrice UK is completely free to download and use. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no advertising at launch.
How accurate are the fuel prices?
We aggregate data from official government feeds (the UK Fuel Finder Scheme) and major fuel retailers. Prices are updated frequently throughout the day. However, prices shown are indicative only — always check the price displayed at the forecourt before filling up. The on-site price is the legally binding one.
Why is a station showing an unusual price?
Our system flags suspicious or stale prices and quarantines them so they don't mislead you. If you spot something that looks wrong, please email support@freefuelpriceapp.com with the station name, postcode, and the price shown — we'll investigate.
Why isn't my nearest station appearing?
We currently cover over 11,000 UK stations from the official Fuel Finder Scheme. If yours is missing, it may not yet be reporting through the scheme. Let us know and we'll look into it.
How do I enable price alerts?
Open the app, find a station, tap "Set Alert", and choose your target price. You'll get a push notification when the price drops to your target. You can manage alerts under More → Price Alerts.
Why does the app ask for my location?
Location is used to find the cheapest stations near you and is processed only while the app is open. We do not track or store your location history. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I add a vehicle for MOT lookup?
Open the app, go to My Vehicles, and enter your registration number. We query the official DVLA and DVSA APIs and show your vehicle details and MOT history. Vehicles you save are stored locally on your device (or in your account if you choose to create one).
Is the MOT data official?
Yes — it comes directly from the DVSA MOT History API. However, it is for information only and is not a legal certificate of roadworthiness. Always verify directly at check-mot.service.gov.uk for legal purposes.
How do I delete my account or data?
You can request account deletion at any time by emailing privacy@freefuelpriceapp.com. We will action the request within 30 days. You also have the right to access, correct, or export your data — see our Privacy Policy.
The app is crashing or behaving strangely.
Please email support@freefuelpriceapp.com with:
- Your device model and OS version (e.g. iPhone 14, iOS 17.5)
- The app version (shown in More → About)
- What you were doing when the issue happened
- A screenshot if possible

Reporting a price error
Help us keep the data accurate. If a price you see in the app doesn't match what's at the pump, please email support@freefuelpriceapp.com with:
- Station name and postcode
- The fuel type (Unleaded, Diesel, E10, Super Unleaded, Premium Diesel)
- The price shown in the app vs the price at the pump
- The date and time you visited
We act on every report, and our quarantine system means a single suspect reading is flagged within 24 hours.
